Nursing Program Graduate Finishes Appalachian Trail
I completed 12 hours at Tri-County Community College while attending high school. After taking some additional courses at TCCC, I transferred to Mars Hill College, earned a degree in Education, and taught in public schools in Nashville, TN and in Andrews, NC.
After 10 years of teaching I knew that I wanted to change my vocation so I came back to TCCC to earn my nursing degree. The nursing program was the hardest thing I have ever done. Because TCCC was convenient and affordable, I was able to make this career change. Now, I am really enjoying my second career.
From April to October of this year, I completed the 2,175 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I have always been a person with goals. I just set my mind to it and get it done. That would be my advice to anyone who is thinking about attending college, pursuing a career, or making a career change. In my experience, community colleges are a great place to start.
