Carringer experiences great opportunity at TCECHS
When Hagan Carringer of Hayesville enrolled in the Tri-County Early College High School (TCECHS) he was only looking for a new experience from the traditional high school. However, Carringer soon realized this new experience also might include a college degree.
“I really wasn’t thinking about the degree when I first came here,” said Carringer. “When I realized the full impact of getting an Associate’s degree, I was so thankful that I came here. That is a once in a lifetime opportunity, once you give that up there is no going back.”
Carringer hopes to attend UNC-Asheville next fall and major in graphic design. He plans to then become a cinematographer on the road towards his ultimate job as a movie director.
“The decision to transfer to the Early College has been great,” said Carringer. “It has been probably the best decision I have ever made in my life.”
He admits being nervous attending his first college class, but his fears were quickly dispelled.
“As time progressed, I fit in really well. I am prepared now for the college experience and I have learned that the responsibility is totally on me,” he said. “Both the Early College and Tri-County Community College have opened up so many possibilities for me. If I would have never enrolled I may have limited myself. Now here, I know that I am limitless.”
