In a special ceremony on Oct. 29 held in conjunction with the 2014 N.C. Rural Assembly, Kathryn Jenkins of Tri-County Community College was named Outstanding Microenterprise Loan Partner of the Year by the N.C. Rural Center.
The award recognizes a Rural Center partner who has provided exemplary service on behalf of the center’s Microenterprise Loan Program, which makes business capital available to rural entrepreneurs.
Jenkins is director of the Small Business Center at Tri-County Community College. She assists seasoned and prospective business owners with a number of entrepreneurial tasks, including business plan development and capital acquisition. When appropriate, she helps connect her clients to the Micro enterprise Loan Program.
“Kathryn has been a great partner and advocate for the program,” said Barry Ryan, the Rural Center’s director of entrepreneurship. “She is extremely dedicated, working closely with program associates and helping clients complete and deliver successful loan applications.”
A native of Newnan, Ga., Jenkins accumulated much of her entrepreneurial acumen while working with her husband to operate Appalachian Outfitters.
