The first of a series of information sessions about employment opportunities at the upcoming Valley River Casino Resort was held Monday, Feb. 3, at the Cherokee County Center for Applied Technology in Marble. Two separate sessions were held and during each session, representatives from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino were on hand to discuss the employment opportunities that will be available at the new casino and to answer the participants’ questions.
“The demand from our community to register for the information sessions has been staggering,” said Paul Worley, TCCC Director of Economic and Workforce Development. “Currently, we have received over 200 calls from individuals interested in enrolling into one of these ongoing sessions.”
The new casino is looking to fill over 800 positions in a variety of departments, including marketing, finance, food and beverage, casino operations, facilities, hotel operations, human resources, security, and surveillance.
Participants who attend the casino information sessions will continue on to a nine-hour pre-hire course held at Tri-County Community College. Representatives from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino will track the attendance and progress of the students enrolled in pre-hire courses.
