Christmas Card Art Winner

In recognition of winning the Tri-County Community College (TCCC) Annual Christmas Card Art Contest, TCCC Community Enrichment student Daniel Hogsed received a certificate from President Dr. Donna Tipton-Rogers at the Main Campus in Peachtree.

“Cabin in the Snow” is the title of this year’s featured Christmas Card art and was painted by Hogsed, a resident of Murphy.

Hogsed, a retired carpenter, said he began painting regularly after he started taking oil painting classes at Tri-County Community College.

“I’ve really painted off-and-on my entire life, but now I take regular oil painting classes with Grace Hawkins,” Hogsed said. “It’s my favorite part of the week.”

According to Hogsed, “Cabin in the Snow” is an oil painting on an 18×24 canvas, which took a full month to complete.

“I spotted the image in a magazine,” Hogsed said. “I felt drawn to the picture and I decided I’d like to try my hand at painting it.”

Hogsed’s piece will be featured along with a short biography on TCCC’s 2016 Christmas Card.
