World renowned British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver said it best, “Cooking is, without a doubt, one of the most important skills a person can ever learn and share. Once someone has that knowledge, that’s it – they’re set for life.”

If you are interested in turning your passion for food into a career, and need the training to unwrap your culinary gift, then look no further than the Peachtree campus of Tri-County Community College.

TCCC recently broke ground on a new building that will house the College’s Culinary Arts Program of Study.

The new addition will feature 2,048 square feet of kitchen space, storage rooms, a walk-in freezer and office for the culinary facility.

“Students that are interested in taking classes in our Culinary Arts Program of Study may begin this Fall Semester, said Dr. Steve Wood, TCCC vice president for instruction and institutional effectiveness. “We are able to offer the introductory courses of the Culinary Arts Program in our current facilities. The more advanced courses will be available for students during the 2015 Spring Semester.”

The funds for the development of the new curriculum and the campus facility were awarded by the Golden LEAF Foundation as part of the TCCC Hospitality and Culinary Initiative. The initiative seeks to foster growth and to develop a skilled workforce for the area’s growing service industry.
