Placement Testing

Applicants to any program of study (degree, diploma, or certificate) are required to demonstrate competence in English, mathematics, and computer skills.

Applicants must take the Tri-County Community College Accuplacer placement test to determine placement in English, math and computer classes. Information regarding the test is available in the Career, Counseling and Testing Center.

The Accuplacer placement test is an adaptive test, meaning that the questions are chosen for you on the basis of your answers to previous questions. This technique selects just the right questions for your ability level. Because the test works this way, every question must be answered before proceeding. There is no time limit for the tests. No question can be left out and you cannot return to change an answer.

On the day of the test, please bring a photo ID. You may not use calculators, textbooks, protractors, notebooks or dictionaries during the test. Scratch paper and pencils will be provided. The college may disregard a test score if there is reason to question its validity.

At the end of the test a score sheet will be created. Please take the score sheet to your assigned advisor when scheduling classes.
