Emphasis will be placed on the basic skills and knowledge required for dental assisting. The areas of concentration will be four-handed dentistry, instrument transfer, use of suction and air/water syringe, patient positioning, dental laws, matrix bands, preparation of local anesthesia, placement and removal of rubber dam and basic chairside dental materials. The student will become familiar with the instruments and procedures used in operative dentistry and endodontics.
