Manicure and Nail Technology

(C55400) The Manicuring/Nail Technology curriculum provides competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles and hands-on fundamentals associated with the nail technology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills.
Course work includes instruction in all phases of nail technology, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other related topics.
Graduates should be prepared to take the North Carolina Cosmetology State Board Licensing Exam and upon passing be licensed and qualify for employment in beauty and nail salons, as a platform artist, and in related businesses.

The North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art will not accept any hours that are over five years old. Therefore, it is the decision of the cosmetology department not to accept any curriculum credits for cosmetology classes that are over five years old.

Students who attend the College from out of state should be aware that the College has not made a determination whether programs or courses which lead to state licensure or certification meet educational requirements outside of North Carolina. Examples of such programs are Basic Law Enforcement Training, Cosmetology, Emergency Medical Science, Esthetics, Nursing, and
Therapeutic Massage.
