Graduate Gena McGrady, MA, has started her career at a local urgent care, providing quality care to patients in a fast-paced setting. The skills she learned during her time as a student in the TCCC MA program set her up for success in this job.

On a day-to-day basis, these medical assistants work to provide patient care for the entire patient experience. Taking vital signs, chief complaints, administering vaccinations, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance coverage are all ways that an MA works directly with the patient. Medical Assistants also work with the medical provider to address patient concerns, send in authorized prescription requests, and follow up on healthcare procedures and laboratory records. This is a very rewarding career that allows the Medical Assistant to help with hands-on patient care.
