Governor Roy Cooper announced a new Executive Order related to COVID on Friday, May 14. With some limited exceptions, the order included the following:
As a result, and effective immediately, Tri-County Community College will not impose any additional restrictions beyond those in his executive order. Face coverings and other social distancing protocols (while still encouraged for unvaccinated people) will not be required. Of course, nothing prevents employees or students from continuing to wear face coverings if that is their preference.
If you teach or attend in person at a local high school, you must adhere to the requirements of that facility or school district.
Please keep in mind that individuals should not be asked to disclose their vaccination status or why they are wearing a face covering. This is private information and should be respected at all times.
During this time of transition, I encourage you to be patient as employees and students make their own decisions about how to protect themselves while at the various TCCC locations. For instance, if you meet with someone in a small space, such as a private office, be mindful that your student or fellow employee may request that you meet in an alternate location that allows more distance.
Please continue to report to your supervisor or instructor if exposed, tested, or diagnosed with COVID.

Following the rise in cases of COVID-19 in our service area and out of an abundance of caution, Tri-County Community College will limit public access to all College locations effective today, July 13. These restrictions will remain in place for at least two weeks.
The College is operational, but will have limited staff on-site. As part of our commitment to the health and safety of our service area, these operational changes are necessary to proactively protect our faculty, staff, students, and the communities we serve.
College employees are still working remotely, constantly checking emails and returning phone calls. A staff member will be answering the College’s main line Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Visitors to campus will only be admitted into a College building if they have a confirmed appointment with a College faculty or staff member. Visitors on campus must wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
These operational changes do impact early fall registration, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 20. Returning students can register via WebAdvisor by visiting the College’s website at www.tricountycc.edu. New students can contact the Advising and Career Center at acc@tricountycc.edu to schedule an appointment to discuss registration needs.

On March 14 Governor Roy Cooper Issued Executive Order No. 117 Prohibiting Mass Gatherings and Directing the Statewide Closure of K-12 Public Schools to Limit the Spread of COVID-19.
Therefore the decision has been made to close ALL Tri-County Community College locations from March 16-20. This means ALL classes including curriculum, continuing education, as well as clinical requirements have been CANCELED during that time.
As such, the Fast Track II session slated to begin on Monday, March 16 is now DELAYED until March 23.

Dear Campus Community:
Tri-County Community College is closely monitoring the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19. Gov. Roy Cooper has declared a state of emergency in North Carolina.
Our priority is the health and well-being of our campus community. That’s why we are joining other institutions of higher education in North Carolina and across the nation in transitioning spring semester traditional and seat-based classes to online and alternate formats until further notice. While TCCC remains open, we will practice social distancing to minimize the potential exposure of our faculty, staff, and students during the coronavirus pandemic. We are sharing basic details below:
Current Online Classes, Off-Campus Clinicals and Work-Based Learning Assignments will continue as scheduled on Monday, March 16.
The College will transition to online and alternative delivery methods for all traditional and seat-based classes by March 20. Students should monitor their TCCC email accounts during the week of March 16 regarding how their specific classes will proceed.
All College Campuses and Locations will remain open and operational during regular business hours. Students may use the computer lab in the McSwain Building and access WiFi on campus. As campuses remain open, students and employees should practice social distancing and other preventative measures recommended by CDC and NCDHHS.
Faculty have received further guidelines and will communicate to students the relevant adjustments, changes, and updates to their classes.
Only essential travel to clinicals or for instructional purposes will be allowed for TCCC employees.
We recommend that you follow recently revised CDC guidelines if you have recently traveled to Level 2 or Level 3 countries.
